Officially unofficial Event Site Update for Winter/Off Season Kite Launch and Landing
This photo should be approximately what the Port of HR will be laying out this week for kiters to use as designated LAUNCH and LAND ZONES.
Nothing is perfect and these are zones to use as safety guidelines to keep traffic from overlapping and running into each other as best as possible.
Launch safely (kiter in the water, kite launcher on the grass), get the kite out away from the shoreline and over the water, body drag or ride out whichever feels safer and quicker for getting out and away from the sketchy wind vortex/shadow over the beach.
Landing kites safely, wait until the landing zone is clear and try to give launching kiters the right of way to get out away from the beach, OR make verbal contact launching kiters to make sure you are launching and landing clear of each other.
Everyone is a voluntary or involuntary launcher or lander when they are on the grass, it's what we locals do for each other.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, be aware of non-kiter spectators in the launch and land zones. They have no clue about kiting so when flying, launching or landing kites please keep clear of them as best you can at all times.
Kiting is fun and it's back to locals launching and landing, so lets all have fun and look out for each others safety.
