Anyone spent time kiting in the SE this time of year? I'm headed to Atlanta for a month or two of work and am wondering if it would be worth my while to bring my kit...

Thoughts/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Well I suspect you'll be traveling for wind somewhere down in the SE if you go kiting.

Florida might work (PM Gman). Also research the Outer Banks.

It was a non kite trip. Didn't stop me from checking out the scene.

Tybee looks good when it blows its fairly shallow and warm water.
Hilton head also looks decent you can see it from tybee its north in SC
Charleston has kiting.

Up and down the coast should have what your looking for just keep a close eye on ikitesurf for wind events i don't think its a super consistent spot like outter banks and certainly doesn't have the intensity. aka (big kites)

Hit youtube for some videos kiting the area.
These lead me to this place.
http://www.boardloft.com/page1/page3/page3.html This place is open year round.

AOK is gone i think they work out of their house.

The owner was super nice and gave me a copy of kitesurf magazine for the airplane home. He knows the area very well.

Charleston has some kiting. I was there on a non kiting trip years ago and talked with some guys at one of the shops there. Seemed pretty good.

Also, Charleston is a pretty cool place. lots of history and interesting bits to check out before the wind comes up.

Atlanta is Delta's hub so you can prob find reasonable flights to a bunch of spots in the carribean
