(Caution: slightly biased retailer opinion below)
We have tested this new kite and feel it is currently best wave kite on the market. It sits deep in the window, so it runs away from you on your bottom turn and your lines stay tight. It pivots on it's own axis when you crank the bar so redirects on the wave face are super snappy. And lastly it flys really well off the front lines when sheeted out or depowered, so it other words you don't have to sheet in to turn it.
We love this kite

oops, posted in old SS thread....moved here to current discussion:
new wave sst sounds quite good. Any of you demo types also flown a BWS, v2 or Pro Edition? Curious how they compare. |

That's a great video ulx, thanks for sharing.
So Dave, I have to ask. How does it jump? I know, I know...it's a wave kite, they aren't supposed to jump. But some do, some don't, and I am just a simple man who only has one quiver and rides in multiple locations. So, as much as I want a really nice wave behaving kite, I'd also like to be able to huck over some islands in the marsh.
(I'm currently on a mixed quiver or RPMs and Rallys)
Thanks! |

I bought the ten meter last week and have only had one session on it in powered up conditions. The kite sits further back in the window and flies beautifully. It does seem to have more grunt than the Rallys I am used to, at least when looping.
Jumps are more of a glide pattern rather than a immediate boost, if that makes any sense. I have to get a better feel for the kite to get the jumps dialed. Kite did fly very well while boosting.
Heading to the coast later in the week so I'm hoping to test it as a true wave kite. Hoping it tracks better without power as I ride waves. I wouldn't (didn't) shy away from this kite just because it's considered a true wave kite. I'm not entering freestyle comps any time soon....
It is shaped more like the RPM and the compact bridle is indeed compact. Will come in handy when rolling the kite as the bridle wont wrap. Bomber construction as expected from slingshot.
Hoping to get more sessions on the ten meter as the wind has cleaned up and coast is turning on! Windance crew has a ten for demo so hit them up for a try... |

As a heavy weight like yourself (+200#) and a 2012 Ralley devotee, I'm hoping the kite doesn't fold/distort/get-crushed while boosting it very lit up.
Please take it out super lit up on a boost sessions and let us know how it goes! THANKS!!! _________________ John

Thanks, Mike! I think you were on the 2011/2012 Rally design which was super light pressure and agile. The 2013/14/15 Rally design has more grunt. Perhaps the SST is somewhere in the middle.
So it does jump! Sweet.
J.P., doesn't look like any thin areas that would distort under load. All beefy, with a big LE as well. The old rallys that did this had a thinner area in the wingtips where the bridle directed a lot of force and there wasn't a strut there. But like you said, let's see what Mike's fat ass does to it. |

Just got back from a overpowered boost fest at wunderbar and I can say I am all in on this kite now. No folding as the old rallys did. (wingtips are much bigger) I was able to boost huge on this kite and loved the maneuverability/stability while in flight. The WAVE is well suited for this fat f#@k!
Next up...Wave kiting this weekend! |
