So NWKITE just recently celebrated it's 10th year of existence. If I recall it came onto the web like Feb 27th of 2005.
Thanks again PKH.
And keep the stoke here on this site!

Wo, is this correct? Boy, I started late with this sport.
Any news about updating the forum?
If needed I’m sure some of us would donate money to the effort. |

No doubt, Thanks PKH! I have spent much quality time during my work day scoping out what's happening on NWKite. This site has provided me tons of stoke even though I haven't contributed much myself- cheers to those who have. |

Whoa!
Thanks I appreciate the kind words! This site is often a pain in the butt but 99% of the time very easy and rewarding to run.
Thanks for the mods and other contributors! |

Its more an issue of time than money. We have a volunteer working on it now trying to do some R&D on how to make it happen. Once we have a plan we can take the site down and perform the migration with hopefully minimal downtime.
The main issue is our software is so out of date there is not a good direct path to newer software. Also we have made a lot of mods to the software that would need to be re-applied. |

If you'll need anyone to help with some coding let me know - I don't have too much time but could help occasionally (I'm a HW engineer but can do SW as well, and I have some limited experience with hosting web pages - I currently manage my blog on a VPS from digitalocean.com). _________________ My pictures of the beautiful PNW

Phil as backwards as it seems I also think its time for you or the site to capitalize on some traffic and have a idiocracy style banner ads. Maybe a few with voice ads really loud and talking over each other that restart with any activity.
Like the April fools joke a few years back.
Good call Sasquatch... We have a splendid hang out and Phil has made it possible as well as the others volunteers.
Thanks to all!
Its been good kiting as well with you all to, as an added bonus. |

regi - I did the math on it a long time ago and it just doesn't pencil out really in how much it would generate vs. the relative annoyance of the Ads.
The good vibes from the kite community is more than enough reward, thank you! Also a number of folks like Forrest and BettyB have contributed to the overall health of the site so I really look at it as a volunteer effort. |

What a great forum!!! Seems when it started forums of all kinds were in their early stages, like kiting was. A small gathering or tribe that grew and evolved, not always positive but mostly. Great freedom of opinion until it went too far, usually. Full PNW!!! Where's TR LL? |

There's one feature I think everyone could agree on would be better image support (imagine just drag and drop and it does the rest.)
Also I've been on some forums that have a "Like" button, its kind of fun.
Maybe clean up a few things here and there... but yeah seems like it works pretty ok! Certainly updating it seems to be much more a monster effort than I thought it would be. |
