If the forecast holds I would leave around 630 arriving by 1030 Get on the water and kite a couple of sessions as no one will probably be around. Get off the water in tge afternoon 3-4 i so and head back north. Just a thought! i emailed will Brady to see his thoughts on the forecast. He lives there and knows it best and usually give me solid info!!
Would love to stay close and go to the ponds but not sure if the wind will blow
I would not mind checking out a Washington spot but I don't know any of the many areas up there. Any other thoughts. Just looks like we might be in a east wind situation with not many options around here??
I am open for ideas! |

I'd be up for some ft. Stevens pond action if there's wind. Gotta find some gloves and hood though. _________________ Switch Nitro II (8m, 10m, 12m)

My winter experience with the ponds last winter was that it usually seemed to die down in the afternoon - so I would make sure to be there ready to ride 9-10 am ish............. It would be nice if the wind would hold in the warmer half of the day. |

Just how far outside of Portland do you live? 4 hrs from Eugene to Floras for sure. 4 hours from Portland? Can I have some of whatever you are smoking? No way.
Secondly, a day trip to Floras from Portland is a waste and frankly,G@Y. At least go for an overnight. |

| Dude that's a 5 1/2 hr drive minimum. The ponds sound like a better option. Wish I could just jump in a hot tub time machine and get transported to June though. |

You guys are the ones that are HI and must drive like a effen grandma. I drive and stop for fuel if needed which is not needed in my truck. Bring snacks for pre and post kiting and hold your stinking tiny bladder. I have done the drive with my family pulling my travel trailer and it has never taken more then 445 stopping to piss and eat as the family likes to stop. It is only 240 miles and I live in canby. 20 min to salem , 1 hr to eugene, 1 hr 15 min to roseburg and then the last 90 and bam your there. The drive is all freeeway to roseburg. Then a straight stretch for 70 miles and then it slows for a while. For someone who has been driving to hit killer spots since college the drive does not get any easier unless I am in the passenger seat:-)
If you dont know how to go which is apparent due to your statement you must go throgh coos bay which you would be stupid to do and the time frame would be more in line with what you say. I have been kakaying for 20 years and have done drives way longer, the same and shorter to creek and play at an epic spot that is in with a water level. Its not that big of a deal for a little scenery on the road. So if someone wants to rally and get some wind instead of spending time on the computer dreaming to kite relax and hop in your car and surprise your self. |

| Well I'm glad I posted that. I live in the couv which is an extra 30 minutes, but always go through Coos Bay. Not anymore though. Cheers bro, I stand corrected. |

Hey Big Hairy Man who lives in the woods:-) you might want to adventure a little more down there. A day trip with steady 20 knot winds with butter flats to little chop for a while. Run over the dunes and hop in for some waves and ride about 2oo yards down wind which is super fun and then hop back in the lake for some more flat water and a couple tacks back to the butter smooth and repeat. (RINSE AND REPEAT) I love how so many people know so much shit about spots they obviously never really explore. I will have a gay trip while you watch for posts of people kiting with pics. Have a pleaseant day!! I dont know all the spots by any means but I would not blast someone for getting on the water a day. Have fun kiting in portland this weekend!!! |

| You should hit Whiskey run the next time your down there. Awesome downwinder action and you can drive on the beach (4x4 recommended). Best if you can get a couple of people going so you can lap it up. The one time I hit it up it seemed the waves were much cleaner than up North here. Maybe I was lucky. |

To kmg. 365: I rest my case, best case scenario it takes you 4:45 from Canby (and I bet "you do sure got a purdee month" (quote from the movie Deliverance)
I've been all up and down the Oregon coast as I mainly ride in the ocean. Floras is cool, but the ocean riding there is just a sand break and if I'm going to do that I'd rather do a downwinder--not that easy there, better at whiskey run. I prefer other locals on the coast that have better breaks.
Got to go, Bachelor is opening at 9 am and I wouldn't want to miss out of the backside freshies and sun today and break my 8th day in a row skiing. And yes, I've been watching some snow kiting vids on TV, I'm going in a few weeks. Have a pleasant day and nice day trip down to Floras--forecast sounds like you could score more if you stay longer; which is my main point in the beginning. |
