I'm thinking of taking a few jumping lessons in HR. Who are the best guys to learn from? Is this worth the money?

Thanks!

Shouldn't it be a lesson on how to land... getting launched is the easier part of the equation... usually the landing is the hardest... even flying planes...

You might check out Cascade Kiteboarding. I'm pretty sure they're the only school with pro riders as their instructors...that and the radio helmet/jetski combo is the fastest way to learn kiteboarding hands down.

You could take a jumping lesson from me @ gorge gradients! I ride boots, but I can sure show you how to send it proper!

Jet skies are not the answer for all lessons.
You want an instructor on a kiteboard can show you how to jump by demonstrating
An instructor on a jet ski can only talk about it.
Would you want a golf lesson with the pro sitting in the golf cart all day?
How about a tennis lesson with the pro drinking a beer on the deck?

Bridge of the Gods is coming up... Head there and watch all the riders carefully. The jumps and tricks are very near the audience so you can see excatly how they're setting up. Watch the board before and right at the jump. Look at stance, speed and kite position. Watch how they sheet. By the end of the day you'll have seen all the demoes you can handle! Very Happy

All of the instructors mentioned are great choices. I do have to disagree about the jet ski though. With an experienced instructor it is quite easy to pass the kite from instructor to student and vice versa. I do this daily and it helps immensely. Student rides for a bit we switch and the student watches me demonstrate from the comfort and safety of the ski. If anything kooky happens I have the ski and I can still rescue the student. Much easier and safer to rescue someone from the ski than with a kite. If your a competent enough rider you can certainly do a ride along with your instructor I just feel safer having a rescue ski handy if things go wrong.

I took a "jumping lesson" from Cascade three years ago. The jetski / radio helmet is the only way to go. Highly recommended!

another great tool for progression is zach price's app.
check it out for your iphone, ipod, ipad or android.
zach has multiple apps that help you progress with moves like rotations, load and pop, etc.
he's a local (seattle) kiter so when you purchase this affordable app, it goes towards his livelihood.
zach does a great job of breaking down each process and integrates a video with multi angle shots to help you visualize the move. (disclaimer- I worked with zach by producing images and video for his app)
