I'm going to be in the gorge next week and am wondering what I should bring. Are you guys in shorties yet? Full suits w/w/out booties? I don't remember when things start to turn.

Thanks

The river is 65 degrees. I have been wearing 4m full, no booties.

Starting to see some shorties out there.

Be safe

shorty no problem. If it's really sunny and not nuclear wind, and the water you kite in is mostly columbia and not hood river then boardies only has been no problem.

id say it depends on how much you're swimming vs. riding. if you are doing a lesson or learning, strap up a full 4/3. if not, depending on how much of a polar bear you are, you'll be able to go 4/3 on down to your board shorts.

You might want to consider bringing a wetsuit anyway, just in case you decide to hit the coast.

you'll find that if you don't spend much time in the water a shortie will be fine. the hood river mouth gets pretty cold though so if you hit the features you'll probably want the thermal protection
I'm no marathon rider so a shortie works for me. if I was to do a 6 hour kite derby, I'd do the full suit. keep in mind that if you experience an issue like if the wind dies and you are stuck out in the middle of the river, you'll be glad you were wearing your full suit. bring it if you have room in your luggage bag

Semi-dry shorty, sealed seams. Yummy
