This one time... at Jones Beach....I saw this guy with a red and black kite doing silly things on the water.

Where are you guys riding today? Sounds like Sauvies and Jones should fire and the gorge is gonna go late.

Is the beach in the last pic directly behind where you were shooting pics from, Tom? Looks like a pretty decent/clean area for setup!

I prefer the gorge for the weekend but I'll prob won't decide until 3pm. Let's go get some!

Yeah lot's of sand, we parked close to the beach and use the vehicles to block wind for setup and protect from motoring dudes from going over kites/lines.

What size of kites work best at jones beach? I only have a 15m & 17m

Depends on the wind really. I've been there when it's windy for 8m and 12m kites and then Thursday I rode the 16m. Keep in mind there's a pretty good current there too. Watch for big ships... they come through at a pretty good click and some of them really play havoc with the wind even when they're way up wind of you.
