Hey its getting to be that time for me to start looking at colleges, and of course the kiting plays a big role in the selection of colleges. Does any one have any suggestions of any colleges by good kiting places? Or even colleges with kiting programs?

Anywhere in Florida close to the coast would be great if you plan on coming back to the NW for the summer. Great kiting from Sept-June and still nice warm weather. Other good spots could be around the North Carolina/South Carolina coast for Fall/Winter/Spring riding.

Yea, Florida State has a kiteboarding club. I personally wouldn't mind going to UC Santa Cruz but they didn't have what I needed for my major. I go to OSU, it's 45 min from Newport and has a pretty direct route there. However kiting can be very fickle in the fall and spring and just forget about the winter.

My little brother is a senior in high school this year.
He is looking at Western Washington University in Bellingham.
I've never ridden there but it seems cool.
Plus there is other stuff to do up there.
Mt Baker is close
In-state tuition is a good thing too!

edit:
oops just noticed that you're from Bellevue so you probably already know all this
What are your (or anybody's) thoughts about kiting and WWU? (for my brother)

If I was to do it over again I would go to school where it is warm and you can either kite or surf most of the year…

NorCal and San Francisco area has pretty good schools and kiteboarding. Season is roughly March-Oct with some winter storm kiting possible every so often. You get some decent freestyle riding and some sweet wave riding near Santa Cruz. Surfing's always another option in winter months and then you have Tahoe for snowboarding which is a bit far (3-4 hours), but doable for weekend trips.

UC Santa Barbara has to be one of the best colleges anywhere for kiteboarding and surfing. The campus is built right top of a perfect right point break (Campus Point) and within an hours drive are 25 other perfect right point breaks along with other beachbreaks and reefs. Isla Vista where most students live is just to the west, built on the beach and has Devevoux Point and IV Beach which are great kiteboarding spots. The Point can be one of the best kiting spots on the west coast under certain conditions.
Another bonus of this spot in Calif is that it is loaded with tons of beautiful college girls that has no rival. The downside of SB is that if you want to live there after being a college student, then you need to become a millionaire fast to afford real estate in the area. I guess it wouldn't be a bummer to be a millionaire, but the path to get there can be challenging. Peter Trow, Ian Boyd and several other pro wind riders all went to college at UCSB and shredded the local waters.

I was going to recommend Newark, NJ or some other shithole with no hot babes and kiting - increases the odds you might actually graduate

UC Berkeley/Stanford , UC Santa Cruz, even UC Davis (1hr to Rio Vista).
Cal poly SLO can be great too. I know nothing about UCSB. Southern Cali is pretty dismal wind wise.
Good luck you have plenty of options.
Oh! Check out brown university- the wind stats for some of the spots near providence harbor are insane.

I wouldn't recommend Corpus Christi for a college atmosphere but Texas A&M has a campus in Corpus and the kiting is awesome with loads of uncharted spots. SO many windy days there its ridiculous. Flat water kitetopia and coastal days as well. If kiting and getting an education were my only two concerns I would go there.
