Just got back from Amsterdam and I wanted to share some photos of the trip. For the last month I have been working like a slave in Holland. But I did manage to bring my kites.

I did not have my SLR so you will have excuse the quality of the photo. If you go to Holland, bring your kites. There are so many places to kite within an hour drive.

I noticed that the wind surfers and kiters were mixed in the same area with no boundaries - so watch your back. Also, I noticed there were no etiquette in cross between kiters - it is every man for himself(or herself). You think hood river is bad? Think again.

Another thing the sun does not go down until 10pm so you can kite until bedtime. The weather changes very quickly so bring your 6m, 9m and 12m. Wind waves can get pretty big too - overhead

Hope you get to venture to Holland someday.

My grandmother lived on the Niewe Paarklaan about 4 blocks from the beach at Scheveningen. Haven't been back for a few years so I'm due. Thanks for reminding me. Did you hear that a Dutch company is buying Anheuser-Busch for 52 billion?

Yes thousands of kiters and windsurfers in Holland.
So cool.
A capital of our sport for sure.

Good Wind
Good Waves
Wetsuits
Cold water.
No bitching?
No whining?

Good for them.

I went up in the Schevening lighthouse when I was a kid. My grandmother knew the old guy that maintained it. There is great fish restaurant across the harbor from it. I see you made it to Peace Palace (not Parliment) and I hope you made it to Madurodam the miniature city. Your photos are bringing back some great memories. Thanks.

Hey
Good to hear you were in holland . I met a Dutch couple ( as I'm Dutch Canadian and heard my mother tongue being spoken ) in St. Lucia in Feb. They had told me that the kitesurfing has been shut down in many areas but windsurfing is still allowed . They said they would have to get away from the police at times to avoid a fine ! I was told that legal kite spots were few and not a lot of surface area was given .
Good to know you can still can .

I did get kicked out of one beach. I was about to pump when I was approached by 2 cops on bicycles. They were very polite(or politie Cool) so I complied.

Should of pumped up faster. I actually kited alot near Schevinigen, but I recommend to any to at least go to Renesin which is south of Rotterdam. more wind and more sand bars with waves and flat water on the other side of the sandbar and plenty to standing waves.

Look forward to seeing you all this weekend for GG.
