Just wanted to give a shout out to the folks at Dakine in Hood River. I had a pair of Nitrous shorts that I had ripped out several times. They had been sewed up once in Hawaii at the warranty shop there. I then ripped them again when I got back. Took them over to Dakine and they said that they could not fix them. I got down on my knees and said please help me. The girls were soo cool over there and immediately took down my info and sent me a brand new pair of shorts to take care of a loyal customer. That is what its all about when it comes to warrantys. They went above and beyond and did not have to. Thanks Dakine for the great customer service.
Anyone else have any good customer service stories like this?

I recently bought a Kokatat Gore-Tex drysuit on Ebay for $250. Great deal huh? Well, it turns out it was an older suit and the material was de-laminating, water was coming right through the Gore-Tex. The seller really must have thought he'd screwed me... I sent the suit to Kokatat. They said it was covered under their lifetime warranty, no questions asked. They sent me a brand spanking new drysuit, retail value $900!
Thanks Kokatat!
(I sent the seller an email thanking him for the suit. I explained that it was a leaker, but that Kokatat sent me a new suit. ) |

| Promotion wetsuits has a sweet lifetime warranty on their seals and stitching. I've brought mine over there more than a few times. It's pretty old but whenever seams begin to sperate, they repair it for free! Pretty awesome. |

On the subject of Nitrous shorts, I have had my share of failures. I use the shorts all the time because they are comfortable ( i prefer a seat style spreader bar location as opposed to a waist) and they are easy to travel with ( lightweight and compact compared to waist harness) I also use them for snowkiting (wearing them under my snowpants and sticking the spreader bar out of the zipper). with my most recent pair, I noticed the webbing has again failed wear it is sewn onto the shorts. I am wondering if my style of riding is too much for these shorts. I like to jump and maybe the shorts are not built to withstand these type of abuse. I may be way off on this claim. I know Shawn Richman rides exclusively on Nitrous Shorts and if you have seen him ride, he can throw down. I will say that DAKINE is a great company to deal with and stand behind their product. I am sending my shorts down for them to be repaired. I feel pretty confident that they can fix them but if they cannot, I know they will take care of me. Definitely one of my favorite Hood River companies. _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |
