Nitinat Lake Crew Event, 2008

Jeremie Tronet, Nitinat Lake August 2007

Ocean Rodeo would like to formally invite any and all riders interested in demoing our 2009 line of equipment to join us this August 13-17th at Nitinat Lake, Vancouver Island BC Canada for our second annual Crew event.

This event is timed to overlap with Windfest 2008, a very fun race / freestyle event combined with camping in the BC wilderness, DJ'd music, large bon fires and BBQ'd salmon and crab. Windfest is family friendly with a motel 2min away from the campground as well as a large enough camp ground as to easily escape the noise of the party. Last year's event was very well attended by riders from the Pacific NW with some excellent Slingshot riders coming up from the Gorge. We'd love to see you make the effort to come up again this year as the event really benifited from the energy and enthusiasm you brought!

Ocean Rodeo is a proud sponsor of this annual event held on our island and has commitments from riders as far away as the UK as well as across the US and Canada to attend this fun event. By running the Crew event in conjunction with Windfest we manage to help raise the profile of Windfest as well as to get as many riders as possible to demo our new 2009 line up of equipment.

Those of you interested in more information are welcome to email me at john@oceanrodeo.com . Flights into the island are easy to find, book into Victoria (YYJ) through Vancouver (YVR), Calgary (YYC), Seattle (SEA) or Toronto (YYZ). Likewise there are 4 different ferries that come onto the island from both BC (BC Ferries) and Washington State (The Coho out of Pt Angeles, The Anacortes Ferry with Washington State Ferries and the Clipper foot passenger boat direct from downtown Seattle to downtown Victoria).

Riders unfamilar with Nitinat Lake should know that Nitinat has long been famous for its wind consistancy. A perfectly perpendicular lake to the ocean the winds are both thermal and venturi influenced with a clean fetch and very little turbulence or gusts throughout the day. Riders are usually on 6m-8m kites at the peak of the day and 10m-12m during the start and finish of the day.

We hope to see as many of you as possible up for this year's event!

John Z - Ocean Rodeo

PS, I put this posting in the general forum as I felt it related more to the event itself than any specific promotion of Ocean Rodeo. If the admin / moderators disagree I'd appreciate it if you could bump it to the soapbox? It is an event sponsored by a number of different companies...thanks!
