Can anyone identify this kite? It's on ebay as a 2005 GTI. I notified the seller that it was a 2003 or older... They replied "sorry" but are still pawning it off as a 2005. I want to notify ebay, but I'd like to know the actual year... Just trying to save some poor newb...

I would bet it's an '03. Maybe a GTO or whatever that cheaper model was that wasn't the Fuel. Oh, and I don't think they even made that kite after '03. Definitely NOT in '05 because that was the year the Diesel came out as the cheaper more stable kite.

This situation has happened before. Some A-hole was selling a full setup from "2005" that was actually 2001 I think. I tried contacting Ebay and the prospective buyer and the seller, but the whole process is so complicated that I couldn't get in touch with buyers or sellers and Ebay didn't give a shit apparently because they did nothing. Bottom line is to do your research before buying.

Looks like an '03 (maybe GTO) to me... It's hard to tell since the paneling (and graphics) is done very similar up until '05, even on the FUEL, but it does have the thick black dacron framing near the LE (and also appears to not have Onepump which started in '04). Don't know if it was a proto or someone did some tweaking to the wingtips, but they're definately not in '03 production kite form.

EDIT: Mike, at the very least, you can tell eBay that there was never a Slingshot GTI kite, and if he corrects that, there was no GTO in '05.

Now that you are on topic I have attempted to tell the seller of this bar to toss it out. His reply is that he has no idea what it is and assumes no responsibility. The bar is not a 5th line bar and had no saftey release at all, plus it has the old school line chicken loop that goes from each end of the bar (not sure what it is called).

I guess it is the buyers responsibility to research the gear they are about to strap themselves into.

What is it with all the old SS gear on EBAY....the damn stuff never wears out.

I am assuming people have tried allerting this item. What if Ebay received like 20 responses that this ad is bogus!! We could try and see how many responses we can send - it will be a challenge!! Probably won't work - but it could be fun trying.
