Growing up in Hawaii during the '50s and '60s...
Experiencing the awe, fear and ultimate satisfaction of finding the tube in the early days at the Pipeline...
Playing a part in the shortboard revolution...
Traveling for surf throughout the world...

In his new book Surf Is Where You Find It, Gerry Lopez recounts these and many other stories from a lifetime of surfing. Perhaps more important, he also relates the lessons learned.

Gerry will be on-hand to share stories and read from his new book. For more details, call our Portland Store at 503-525-2552 or visit the store page.

Friday, May 30th at 7:00 pm
Patagonia Portland, EcoTrust Building
907 NW Irving St.

While you are there check out the patagonia wetsuits.
They are really unbelievable. Super warm and durable.
I have wore over 100 wetsuits and this one takes the cake.
Mine 3mm but good in 46 to 65 degree water.
65 is a bit warm and you def can't wear booties with it at that temp or you will choke.
Could wear a 2mm in the ocean kiting in summer.

wool on the inside heats up.
3mm as warm as my 5mm.
No more 5mm for me.

Much Respect! IMHO, the best ever! I used to adorn myself with lightning bolt gear when I was a kid. Lopez is "The Man".

not totally OT.

At a similar event in Santa Cruz in late April, Gerry commented in the Q & A that he is perhaps interested to try kiting. (He obviously has a network of friends from Hawaii or Pacific NW who could show him the ropes).
