Fri May 23, 08 6:17 am Lost Board Misfit 146 Reward |
|
|
Well, I lost my board Thursday afternoon just above Wells Island.
I fell victim to the giant swell and the current took my board away so damn
quickly. Needless to say it was a super long and tiring hypothermic body drag
back to kite beach. Some windsurfers at the Hatchery told me they saw it float
past. I am sure it is to Bonneville by now.
It's a Misfit 146. Black and Red on top with ( no handle ). Excellent condition. Orange/Red on bottom with red fins.
Any info is appreciated. If found please email me @ this address

you'd think if they see a kiteboard floating past, they would grab it...
"hey look at it go! I'm sure somebody meant to throw that board in the river and see how fast the current could take it away!"
Hope you get your board back. btw, are there screens infront of the dam overflow? I undertand there are for the turbine inlets, but what about the water that flows over the top, like right now? |

Windsurfing with a kiteboard in one hand is really tough - it you add in swell or fluky wind, its almost impossible (for me). |

I spoke with the Bonneville Ranger Station this morning. They told me they will look for it and call if they find it.
The ranger said with the immense volume of water flow right now it is entirely possible that the board was pushed through the dam and will not be found.
Guess that means no screens. Dam it! I mean, damn it!!! |

Wouldn't this be a good time to bring up the merits of your GoJo? |

With the flow we have and the size of the swells "wind shadow" many a "go joe" have floated down river of the rider.
The best thing on big days is ride with a buddy. |

I am not sure what that means bro jo, however, if you are referring to my kiting capabilities then yes, I was out of my league in that wind.
I just started kiting last June. I am still learning a lot. Thursday night session was only my second day out since last August and before that was last weekend in 90 degrees with ultra light wind.
I was flyin a 9m kite and was def lit but I don't regret it. It was an experience I sought and went after. I lost a board because I didn't have enough sense to stay closer to the launch I guess.
Somebody told me later after I got outta the water that you only go out as far as your willing to swim back. Sounds good to me. I can swim but in this temp water a 20 or thirty min swim combined with major current can be life threatening for sure.
Chalk one up to being more experienced. That's how I am lookin at it. I learned quite a bit about kite control in big gusty wind. now I just gotta learn how to keep those flat freestyle boards above the water when your rippin. I'm still learnin that.
I mean that swell ate me alive when I slowed down in the middle of it and realized I shouldn't have. I got bowled over.
So, what is GoJo again? [/quote] |

That comment was directed at me. I made a post last week how I got separated from my board and just about lost it - I posted saying I was going to buy a GoJo - got mixed responses on the GoJo Idea.
You can see the discussion here:
http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-8395.html&highlight=gojo
As far as bringin up the merits of a GoJo - the GoJo isn't for everyone - I'm not going to start preaching about GoJos - if you feel it can be helpful then get one. if you feel like you don't need one then don't waste your money. But I'll be the one rocking the GoJo - can I get a whoot whoot!! _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |
