Going to visit a friend, and a potential grad school. I'd love to kite while I'm there. The last time I was there I didn't kite (didn't know how), but I surfed at Half Moon bay and Stinson Beach. Both seem kite-able. BUt I was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations.
I seached the forum a bit and saw that Sherman Island looks cool. Any general tips/advice/thoughts?
I'm actually posting here because the bayareakiteboarding website is down...

Tons of great options between the Delta, Waddell, 3rd Ave, and Crissy.

Delta is a hike from S.F. depending on the traffic.

Waddell or Ocean Beach for waves (Waddell's way better but almost an hour South of SF). Sherman for flat water (windiest in early morn and late afternoon closer to sunrise and sunset, good flat water behind the islands and the water's not salty). Crissy if you want a nice view of the Golden Gate bridge with shitty wind and currents. 3rd ave if you like riding in muddy water that smells like crap (decent wind and water though if it's a lot closer than Sherman for you). Alameda if you really miss Sauvies and wanna hang out on the beach. Stinson if you like tiny waves (1-4ft), less reliable wind, but with a nice beach town and are even more desperate to meet Whitey than the other spots. I think that covers most of the spots. Basically Waddell and Sherman are good and 3rd ave can be a backup freestyle spot if you're stuck on the peninsula.

I recommend letting the wind decide:

NW: Waddell or 3rd is usually good
SW flow: Sherman
W to SW at 3rd is crappy
Heat wave (like last week): Sherman is usually dead and 3rd will hit late.

All will be crowded on memorial weekend.

Delta = Sherman Island

Check ikite too for forecasts and more importantly early signs of wind building.

Ha Ha that is a good one. You need smell-o-vision to get the full effect though!
