There are snakes in the kiddie pool, beware! Besides not kiting in shallow water, don't kite in the kiddie pool if you can't survive a bike from a baby rattle snake.

When I was a senior in college, I tracked a bunch of rattlers' for a biology project. Those are not rattlers, just fyi. They look like garter snakes to me. Many snakes will vibrate their tails in imitation. Baby rattlers do have rattles, plus a distinct viper profile, not streamlined. Hope you were nice to them.
I think you were joking

| Snake skin harness would look pretty sweet - or maybe some snake skin board shorts.

yup, definately not a rattler... here's what a rattlesnake that you would see in Oregon would look like.

I'll tell you where you need to be aware of rattles is at 3 mile. I almost got snapped by a baby there last year. Went to set my sail down and the bush started making that very funny and scary sound.

It was definitely an aggressive snake with a diamond/heart shaped head. I think we all just assumed it was a rattlesnake but didn't have a rattle cause it was young.
We were joking about the kiddie pool thing, and pretty sure this guy had an unlucky swim that brought it out to the river.

Saw a bigger one of those last tuesday on the trail down from the parking lot. Didn't have a rattler. ( I avoid anyway!!)
Except for the rattler we found in Texas... I wanted to see how fast the rattler was. I got a long stick and put it in front of the snake. The game was to see if I could move the stick before he struck. NO WAY. That snake was lightning fast. That's when I decided to move on to the fire ant mound. Gotta love texas!
