How do Avery and other spots farther East rate for Beginners?
Some type of rating system for beginner launches up and down the Gorge would be cool |

Never heard of Avery? Where is that at?
Rufus is a tough launch and has a fast current often, not a beginner place at all unless you have a boat.
Roosevelt is a nice spot the launch is pretty tough cause its small and has a major wind shadow. Roosevelt is great if you have a boat, nice wide river plenty of room for everyone. Watch out and be respectful of the windsurfers there most of them are really nice just ask where the launch is for kites.
I would say the most friendly beginner beaches are Sandbar, Sauvies or Jones Beach.
Just my two cents...feel free to ignore it completely |

| A mistake at Avery could be very bad news, unless the kiter is in the river Hatchery style. It's rocks. |
