Windsurfer lost at sea

Helicopters and police and fire boats searched Long Island Sound on Saturday for a windsurfer who lost control of his craft and tumbled into the frigid water.
Rescue workers from the Stratford Fire Department have recovered only the windsurfing board and the parachute sail that ripped away from it.

Emergency responders said they were frustrated because they spotted the windsurfer clinging to his board but that he disappeared before they could maneuver their boats to reach him.

"He looked like he was flailing around," said Lt. Tom McCabe of Engine 3 in Stratford. "He was holding onto the sail, and as we were relocating and we got over to Russian Beach the sail ripped off the board and we lost him. We didn't see him again after that."

That sucks... I just read another article linked from the link you posted which said he was found dead yesterday at 11:40AM.
