The good news: Warm weather and awesome Easterly forecast.
The bad news: The Colombia is three feet higher than it was back on the 12th. I'm thinking the launch at Rooster is under water. |

| That's the Sandy river. Normally, I'd say that's not a big enough area, but as high as the water is, maybe? Unfortunately, that nice road is gated and posted, I think... |

| Probably crappy wind in there too and not much room to kite. Is there still any island left on the East side of RR that we could walk to from the freeway? There's always Dalton as well with the boat launch. Finally, Stevenson and Home Valley are other options. I'm sure something can be figured out if there's wind. |

Maybe we can launch from end of the pier at the first staircase, I've never tried a dock start with a kite... Seriously though it seems like somewhere on the east side of the park there should be high enough ground with enough of a clearing to launch a kite. I think I've kited there when the water is pretty high, but I guess maybe not this high.
Also, any chance I can get a ride to the gorge on saturday with someone? My car's in the shop and doesn't look like it'll be ready by the weekend. I can buy gas or beer or whatever it takes to get to the water. |

| I'd like to get some action this weekend - just waiting and seeing if someone can find a launch area - I'll be leaving from Beaverton. |

Oops, forgot to mention that I'm in Vancouver, pretty much downtown and close to I5. Not sure how out of the way that is for the S/W Portland crew, but like I said, gas and beer is on me. PM me or call, 206 313 five nine eight zero.
Looks like the wind might not be guaranteed either, down a little from last night. (really I'm just trying not to jinx it by getting my hopes up) |
