heya,

planning on a quick week in texas in april, maybe goin back to padre. was wondering if any of my more experienced bretheren have kited in corpus? it looks like there a a gazillion places to ride there around the bay.

spi is a great spot but the island is isolated and a bit funky.

anyone with experience in both places for a comparison?

thanks

jimbo

Haven't been to Corpus yet just SPI. From what I hear Corpus has the advantage of more civilization, better food, better nightlife possibilites (SPI is near vacant until Spring Break.)

Also if you were going to go during March Corpus would probably be the best choice as SPI will be overrun with crazy spring breakers and girls gone wild. Shocked

SPI advantages... dirt cheap during the offseason (offseason for tourists that is.) Flying into Brownsville is cheaper than flying directly to CC. And it does seem like SPI's endless flatwater and shallow conditions that are good for beginners aren't quite matched by CC. I could be talking out of my ass though. Somebody please let me know if I am!

corpus is a city, you can kite along the front of the downtown if you don't mind rocks everywhere, and sometimes in the ocean is better than spi

Check out clinestreetsailboards.com. He's got a pretty good guide to the riding spots around Corpus.

Take your pick, both are great.
South Texas has been rockin this winter.

TODAY
NORTHWEST WINDS AROUND 20 KNOTS. GUSTS UP TO 30 KNOTS
UNTIL LATE AFTERNOON. CHOPPY BAY WATERS.

WEDNESDAY
SOUTH WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. CHOPPY BAY WATERS.

THURSDAY
SOUTH WINDS 20 KNOTS. CHOPPY BAY WATERS.

FRIDAY
NORTH WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. CHOPPY BAY WATERS. SLIGHT
CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

SATURDAY
NORTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. A MODERATE CHOP ON THE
BAY. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

Looks like a good time to cash in a freq flier pass; or climb
in the moho and drive.
