Grabbed my first S session on the coast saturday. Tasty! Always been a little dubious of southerlies but they were very steady and dead side shore. Swell was biggish but managable.

With that, there's really no direction that can't be sailed on the coast.

Sweet!

Where were you Sat? I checked in a Manzanita, but wasn't enough most of the day...Sunday looked like it had some promise for a NW, but had to leave town at 1pm, the swell was huge, but looked like lots of space on the inside...sunny and warm.

Anyone do downwinders from around Seaside to Ft Stevens in Southerlies?
How is Floras lake in early spring? Good for beginners?

I was at Seaside on Saturday and we totally should have arranged a down wind pick up. The way the shoreline hooks westward as you go North would make it more on-shore as you'd go up. Perfect! And to be able to ride (and dodge) the sizable swell on a down winder would be choice!

Floras = Yes

I think Floras is only good for beginners if you have a JetSki or employ Will (the local instructor) to follow you on his. At least somedays I know it gets very windy, last time I was there one of the girls in our group was way too overpowered on a 9m, but a 7m was a little bit too small. The strong/gusty wind can make it tough. Your results may vary!

Hein you getting the kids into it?
