Second one at this spot in as many months...
Quote: | A rider who lost his board was body dragging in yesterday parallel to
the shelter just down wind of the launch.
He had his kite low between 9-10 however was body dragging at a high
rate of speed when a gust hit him
The rider did eject or cut away and was pulled up INTO the small tree
in front of the shelter. Maggie was STUPID gusty yesterday.
Fortunately the riders kite was low the whole time (proper protocol)
and crashed into the ground once he was UP in the tree.
Who remebers the last time (2 months ago) a rider ended up in tree???
Keeping your kite low at Maggie in strom wind is not enough when landing.
Riders NEED to be ready to deploy their leash!
PULL the CUT away and let go!!!
The nameless rider was VERY fortunate and didn't break anything and
was not seriously injured.
HE WAS LUCKY THIS TIME!!!
Happy New Year & ride safe
