i don't mind if we get into brand wars, but phil might.
I was considering the lunacy, or maybe the jamie pro. never tried either one of them.... are there others in this class that I should look at as well? |

based on my recent board post, seems like there are a few people that really like the LF recoil comp. It's priced right that is for sure, I'm going to give Forest's a go when it gets warmer.
Other board in that class... nobile 666 (freaking pricey). |

Plenty of great boards out there. Try them all. Make sure and try the Naish Sol or Thorn.

I agree with posters above.. there are many great boards out there these days!!
More important than the brand is getting on the right size board for your size and riding style. From there it is getting a shape that fits your riding style and conditions.
Some people like more flex.. some less.. some like curved ends for more turny feel, some like a more squared tail for more power and pop...
Best thing you can do is ride as many boards as possible that you are considering. Mark has the Naish boards, plenty of SS boards around and I have all of the Liquid Force boards and we will all go out of our way to get you a chance to demo... you just have to ask.

North Boards are amazing! I just got a new Skypro and love it, with a wide ass stance. Check out the North line, because they offer up so many flexes, sizes, and Promodels to chose from. Plus, its cool to ride a board and support a Pro from the Gorge!  |

See Brett, the decision is obvious! Just demo every board out there and make your choice. 
I do second Hein's recommendation of the NSI gear, in fact I am off to HR right now to try to score some pads for my Lunacy. Yeah $75-$150 for aftermarket pads/straps might seem spendy, but so are decent running shoes. Its a hell of a lot less expensive than knee surgery. |

I have a JL and absolutely love it. I know one or two other people around here have one as well. It's really an all around board and does many things well. It has a really cool concave that eats up chop and although it has round rails, it still manages to hold an edge REALLY well. And the funny thing is, even though it edges well, it is very smooth and slippery in the turns. Like I said it does allot of things well and I would say that 95% of people that have voiced their opinions on them thought they were good boards.
I love mine, I just need to get a bigger one. (I need a 139).
Pluses:
good in chop
holds an edge well
slippery in the turns
"playfull" and foregiving
Cons:
expensive
not the best pop in the world because of big taper
lots of rocker...so not the fastest board
phucking epoxy is fragile as shit..scratches and chips are almost impossible to avoid. |

| i agree with most peeps suggestions.. defs want to demo as many boards as poss, because its so different for everyone, fins make a huge difference as-well. i have the jamie pro 06, and i like it better than the 07' if i had a money and wanst supper cheap i would get the skypro its pretty badass!! but that is just north stuff. there are tones of options out there you should ask people at the beach if you can demo thier board.. another sweet board is the crazy fly you deffs want to try that one out. but its all about your style so yeah.. good luck!! |
