Yea I heard about this yesterday from my dad... He had to tell me because I HATE sharks (when I'm in the ocean), and well, since it was at Seaside, I guess that's kinda close to home. Supposedly it was a 10ft Great White or something, but the guy did survive with just a "bit" up foot and calf.
I guess we don't have as much to worry about when kiting, unless you put your kite in the water...

I saw it on the news Xmas morning and I knew the guy was OK. I thought this post (while referring to a serious incident) was some sort of joke with Scott's picture.
Anyhowwww....how bout the coast today? Sun and 15-20SW?
Here sharky, sharky...

Listening to Astoria radio last night, I guess he had to go to Emanuel in Portland yesterday because of infection concerns. Originally, he was released next day from Providence here in Seaside.
As far as safety on a kiteboard from sharks... it's probably all good until you get separated from your board. Then you are just trolling yourself like a big meat jig. But you would have to think your chances are still much better. There are alot of lonely and dark surf sessions in the winter. I think it is still pretty safe considering how sharky it feels most of the time. I'm not sure that there has been a recent attack in Seaside, if one at all amazingly.
Good LB session today between storms. Had the 15 out in the sun but it looks like the next set is rolling in.
