I saw this on the Scappoose forecast, any chance Saturday is the first day for sauvie? Obvoiusly going to be better in the gorge, but I'm busy most of the day so this is my only hope.

Next question is has anyone kited sauvie from the washington side? On google it looks like the road on the WA side ends about .25 miles south of the kite beach, and there's a bit of sand there to launch on. I'm in vancouver, so this would make it much easier to get summer sessions after work.

Remember try not to swallow any of the water and take a picture if you go for the contest.

Never tried the Washington side before, let us know how it turns out and if it's a option for the Vancouver people this summer.

The WA side of the Sauvies launch is in the Ridgefied NWR - i don't think you will be able to drive to the beach. From WA you can launch at Frenchmans Bar in Vancouver to the south and Woodland to the north. Personally i think Woodland is much better than Frenchmans Bar and from Vancouver much more convenient than Sauvies. PM me if you want to ride share up to Woodland once the northerlies kick in, it's usally good late afternoon and evening so great for after work. There are several different spots at Woodland so with a couple of cars downwinders are also an option. If you search this forum their are old posts on Frenchmans and Woodland.

Looking forward to those northerlies starting up!!

the WA side would probably be the better call anyway because it looks like a WNW forecast... that means flukey and offshore at Sauvies.

CSO ya know, watch for floaters Very Happy

WNW is a good direction for the airport if it's strong enough plus it's upstream of the CSO goodies. Tide will be full ebb when the strongest wind is forecast as well so should get a little boost from that.
