Bruno Legainoux, the inventor and holder of the "Bow Kite" patent (as well as the original inventor and patent holder of the leading edge inflatable kite), made a few posts on a KiteForum thread reguarding to what the difference is between his kites that are under his patent (such as Takoon and Cabrinha's kites) and other flat kites:

Its good to hear things straight from the designers perspective and not through the marketing spin machine. Even if your not a fan of these style kites, its good to have some insight into what the designer is trying to accomplish, and what they might still be trying to improve upon.

I think its a rare day when I'll post a link to a KiteForum thread, but every once in awhile some useful and unique information gets posted amongst all the BS.
