Everyone who came out really enjoyed riding the new Eclipse kites Nano's & Thrusters.
The 12m Nano was very fun even in light winds (5-10knts). The low end is incredible, Comparable to the 14 thruster. I had an easy time re-launching the Nano even when the wind was barely noticable. The thruster was more difficult to relaunch and needed more power before it came to life. A shorter bridle system may be nice, as the length can tangle easily
The Thruster has great lift!, with the nice steady pull of a C kite and the depower ability of a SLE. Both the Nano and the Thruster have very light bar pressure, and turn super fast.
Mixed reviews about the bar....
The safety release system for the chicken loop is easy to engage accidently. We found you can change make the system tighter by switching the groove on the rubber "o-ring". This made it harder to engage and resolved the problem. There was also problem with the neoprene covers that protect the steering line attachment to the bar, when the lines are twisted they tend to snag the line from un-twisting.
overall consensus:
Both the Nano and Thruster are top quality kites with great performance. Dimitri and the enitre Eclipse company are very laid back, down to earth people who take time to listen to the riders opinion with R&D. made for the riders by the riders
I hope you all get a chance to fly one and see for yourself! _________________ I stretch my wings and pull the strings |
