Some of you might have heard that Hood River Middle School has a "Windsports" class, in which a couple of us teach about 40 kids the very basics of windsurfing and kiteboarding spring quarter. The class culminates in three full days of water time at the The Hook. Kids windsurf, and body drag during this time. Some of the kids go on to be very good kiters: Ian Daily, Jon Ing, Ashley Kastner, Eli Camero, Bridget Merriam etc... Other kids have a one time experience, but get a feeling of great pride nonetheless.
I am always looking for able-bodied, mature adults who want to help out. What you get out of it is that warm fuzzy feeling of body dragging with a stoked, and scared 13 year old. Or, setting up kites so that the next kid is ready to go, or... You also get a NYCSub in any flavor you want, so long as it's a Bronx. You guys should all help out! I mean if it wasnt for Cohn and great volunteers such as Jim Bison, I wouldnt be able to bless you guys with my presence every summer at the sandbar!!
Really tho. You guys should help out! I would be, but Ill still be here in Eugene at school...
