Tue Feb 26, 08 10:44 am T3 Tease - when will it end?? |
|
|
| The T3's been on the SS website for months now, with the only info being: "Top secret, details coming soon." What's up Slingshot guys? When's the unveiling going to happen?

Mid to late April is the ETA that Slingshot is giving us for the T3 kites.
As far as we have been informed, the T3 kite is very similar to the T2 in shape and design.
The big improvement should be in the shorter bridle lines, new leash system and the option to switch between 2-1 pulleys from the bar and 1-1 direct line steering from the bar.
Kite prices are up 10%, but the costs are in the value of the product and the build materials.
I'm sure Shy will chime in and give us some more details.

When i get the OK, This forum will be the first to get good pictures and close up's of the bar and any further details regarding the kite.
T3 will be similar to the T2 but you will have the option of 2:1 and 1:1 and all the Bells and whistles of the Center Safety System and a new bar grip.
Opps i might have said to much... HAHAH

My buddy Warren has a demo. Only flew it for a short time and has not written a full write-up yet. Likes the 2-1 much better than 1-1, though. Said the new bar was fantastic.

Add in the fact that if you call you not only get a T2 for 899 but you get to bro down with your favorite not so local but used to be local Nate Dogg to get all the dirty east coast happenins and you've got the best deal in kiteboarding!
No seriously though...that'd be sick if one of my homies from the NW called just to chat. 866-REAL KITE. Ask for Nate, Nate Dogg, Naterade, Nateocity, Nasty Nate, Nater, His Nateness, Naterino, Nathan...your choice.

Slingy has closeout T2s - 5 mtr through 14 mtr for $899 to $1,099 complete on their website in the Sale & Special area under "Closeout Kites" They have 5, 7, 9, 14, but - no 11's.

Somebody better pick up that 17m from Pepi. Kite is rare...we've had a few people calling in here looking for them but we've been out since late fall. If your nickname happens to be biggie smalls, or if you wish it was, this is the lightwind kite for you.

I just got my 14 meter T2 from Real. Quite a deal. Looks like a bad ass kite cant wait to try it out. I'm headed down to Southern Oregon this weekend to do some snowkiting and I'm hoping the wind will be light enough to try it.
You guys that have T2s do you fold it up like it says in the manual? I failed horribly at this and I'm wondering if there is a better way.
Oh and if the T3 shape is very similar to the T2 will the T2 fly with the newer bridles?

One of the other video guys for SS was talking to Amery about using the T3 bridle on the T2 in SPI, and Amery said probably not since the linking points are all slightly different.
P.S. - Don't know what the manual says for folding, but I've seen Tucker roll his old T2s enough in the past to kind of get an idea ('cause I still hate rolling the Turbos). Fold the wingtip/trailing edge back over to the leading edge so that they align directly over one another. You should now have a more "centered" point in relation to the rest of the kite. From there, roll this point to the middle of the kite. Don't know if that's what you're doing, but it's hard to roll anything as nice as C kites.

Andy,
Just fold your wingtips over until they form a 90 degree angle from the leading edge, then start rolling towards the center strut as usual.
As far as using T3 bridles on a T2. I don't think your T2 will fly correctly without doing some attatchment point modifications, that would involve sewing them in.
Schey elluded to the differences in the kites. Both are real solid kites. The T3 just has more bells and whistles. If you are in the market for Turbos, don't hesitate to pick one up from Gorge Performance, 2nd Wind, or Real. Also check with Ben at PacWave, he might still have some T2s too.
