I have a warm 4/3, and then a smokin' hot 5-6mil suit.
Which one would be good for stevenson/HR this time of year?
thanks for any advice.
I haven't been out since October...

Think you're going to want the 6:5. The water's ~38 degrees right now, and with all the snow we got this year will probably be cold for a while. I'm sure I'll be in my drysuit for another couple months before switching to a 4:3 shorty. Can't wait for just boardshorts!

I just got my new 4.3 in the mail, and I can't wait to try it out.
I'm glad to have a wetsuit that hasn't been around longer than kiteboarding!
Adam,
How do you think a 4.3 with one of these would feel at the coast/astoria?
We're getting close to the 100 rule -- 50 in the air 43.5 in the water.

SWEET!
I used to take my 4:3 down into the 40s, but I think a lot of it has to do with what kind of cold you can tolerate. A 4:3 definately WOULDN'T be enough if you had to swim for a bit at 43 degrees. I was in my Pryo Surf at ponds yesterday (which was mostly Columbia) and the water felt pretty cold (instant brain freeze if your face touched the water), but I could still ride without booties.
EDIT: I can't spell

At the risk of sounding like "Mom," assume you WILL break down and have to swim for 45 minutes. A 4/3 will not meet that criteria this time of year.

I'm thinking I'll wait and see on the vest, seeing as I won't be getting out until spring break
Maybe the water will warm up a bit in 4 weeks.
Then I can save my $76 for some blow... i mean camera gear.

| Your balls will shrivel to the point that you will never be able to have kids if you step foot in the river right now with a 4/3.

Well said, it's better to be prepared. Deffinitely a 6/5.

No doubt. Yeah dude the thing about your balls is true. I've been looking at rooster a couple of times when I went by and it has been nuking but them I remember a cold water session i had late one afternoon out there and screw it. Just not worth it in my 4:3 right now.

I thought I could take it but I'm not as tough as Adam. In fact I don't think Adam has any feeling left in his body. He was kiting in damn near nothing at the end of sept last year while everyone else was in 4:3s. I thought I was tough (I take cold water pretty well) but can't at all hang with that guy. My feet get numb and my board control starts to blow and I know I should get out of the water. Don't know how he does it but he does it well. Too tough for me. Assume murphys law and play it safe.

6/5 all the way will do ya, but also want to remember the gloves - trying to keep you hands out of the water as they go blue kind of sux. Then of course you'll want to use them to swim with... it's a big catch 22!
