I am going to be making a couple board-racks for the wall in my garage.

I have seen a few different designs, but knowing all the action on this site and avid indulgers in the board-sports, I figured I'd see what your ideas or past projects are..?

I was thinking some 2x4's and some wooden dowles would do the trick.

I need room for 5-6 KB's, 3 surfboards(short), and 4 snowboards, plus a bunch of skateboards too... Wink

these looked pretty similar to what I had in mind.

thanks,
jake

Yup. Mine look very simular. I used 1/2 copper pipe and wrap. Just drilled holes on a angle thru two 2x4's.

Home depot sells shelf brackets for like $2 each. They work great and are really easy to install.

I don't have any pictures of it but at home depot you can buy threaded galvanized tubing in various thicknesses and the round couplings they screw into that have 4 holes to screw them into a 2X4 nailed or bolted to the wall. Beefy setup for cheap. I have mine holding up ladders, kayaks and shelving way heavier than any boards. H. D. also sells nice cover pads for them as well to protect your boards.

I used 3/4 dowels and drilled them right into the studs in my garage wall. about the cheapest way to go sans salvaging stuff.

The trick is keeping your drill at a constant 45 degree angle when drilling the holes for the rack.

If your really concerned then clamp 2 2x4's side by side (one on each side of the stud) at the proper angle and use it as a guide for your drill.

walah.

I use hooks spaced with a bungee between them on the cieling of the garage for surfboards and surf style. for the snowboards just two bike hooks to cradle board horizonal, two hooks also hold my twin tips the same way .
this holds everything flat against the walls and cieling so you don't loose any space. The cieling and the walls look like a board display.

the ceiling ideas were from eckmans sprinter. Twisted Evil

cheap really easy and no space

I just slide em up above the handrail (headhigh) in the bus,... but i'm thinkin of a vertical mount, with space being the factor.

Those look great. If you wanted to... you could get some cheap black pipe insulation from home depoe and cover the racks.
