So, I have been flying the 06 shocks for a while and decided to upgrade to the 07s. I love the 06s. They are great for me in the gusty Seattle winter weather. They seem to fly a bit differently than my 06's.

Has anyone seen the tips fold a bit when turning hard? It happened today on my 07 9m. First time flying it. I wanted to rig it like my 06s, so I adjusted the back bridle line to the knot closest to the kite and still use my pulley bar. (I have modified my bar so there is not as much pressure). I am wondering if the bridle line lengths are different between years and and what has changed in the design. I notice the leading edge elbow joints are placed differently on the outboard ends.

Anyway, any help is apprecitaed. I just would like my 07s to fly as much like my 06s as possible. Thanks

Eugene

Yes I think the bridles are different I've had both the 06 and 07 and as you loved it.

The 07 was designed to be able to use a 1:1 and I think they modified the bridle for it. The 07 kite felt more stable to me, no more backing up in the waves...and better jumping.

If your wingtips bend, you might be oversheeting. If you are it will affect the turning speed and the power. Also check that you pump it up. The 07 SW have a huge windrange so gusty winds suit it well Smile

As far as I can remeber I used the same knot as you with a 1:1

It should be fairly clear instructions on the kite which is made for 1:1 and which is for 2:1 I think the two other settings are for the 2:1..which makes sense if you oversheet.

If you want less pressure just use it in 1:1 Smile

You got a good kite there. I think the 07SW was a big step forward from the 06. I had the 12.

How does Seattly work for kiting? Do you kite by that big bridge there (sorry dunno the name).
A.

Thanks for the reply. I was using the top knot (for use with 1:1) but using my pulley bar with it. Thats the way my 06s are. I guess I should try to follow the instructions first. AARRGGHH, but you know how guys are.

The wingtips folded a bit right between the two back bridle line attach points. I usually pump them up pretty firm, but maybe not this time. The wind was light. Maybe I was trying to turn too hard. I will keep trying.

The main point I wanted to hear was the favorability of the 07s over the 06s. I never have had a problem with the 06s. I may just have to tune different. I will work at it. I dont mind pressure. My bar is setup 1.5 : 1. I like the quick depower in really punchy winds. It works great for me.

Seattle is great year 'round kiting. We are blessed to have nice summer thermals pulling air across a nice sandy beach north of Seattle. there are a few other areas on the Puget Sound, but the "jetty" is probably the most populated on any given day. Very consistent winds anywhere between 9m on some lucky days, to 15m on most others. Lots of solid 12m days last year.

The storm driven windy winter is exciting indeed. The wind direction turns and we have different beaches, and challenging conditions. But also very fun. Not much wave action, but enough in the winter to have fun. I have been in head high a couple times this year, but thats it. They are mostly wind driven...I believe. Anyway, lots and lots of kiting up here. We have a phenomonal communtiy also. I couldnt imagine being associated with a greater group of people...and I wasnt raised in a barn. We have a great forum. I am not sure you are a member.

Anyway, thanks for the confidence in the 07 shock. I will mess around some more with it and dial it in soon enough. Cheers
