My god how much fun can we have? This season has been so weird, but the sessions we've had have been for the most part almost epic.
I have not been out in a while due to work and being sick, but got out today in double to triple overhead waves. Simply amazing...so stoked now I am not sure where to turn Smile

Sun, wind, waves, 6'1'' CR Naish and my all time favorite kite Helix 9. Simply can't better than this....

What a sport we are in...I really hope I can start bringing my waterproof housing out more...but it is sooo hard to take pics instead of just riding and having fun Smile

Anyhoo....if you guys are coming to Oahu let me know...I hope I will spend less time at work and school this semester and more time in the watrer..be it kiting, surfing or SUP...though looking at some of the project coming up... Smile

anyhoo..
Alex - now 130% more stoked..

It sucks when none of your friends kite, the only way to vent stoke is on NWkite

Moving away from Hawaii is probably the smartest thing he could do if he wants to find some time to study! I just know if I kiteboarded when I was in school, I would have had a tough time learning anything and probably couldn't afford this sport now that I'm free.

I know I will get better at this..I've been saying this for a while, but I did get the Canon G9 with underwater housing for this reason though..we'll see what comes of it.

Smile

Dano: Moving from Kauai??? I think if I leved there I would never even get off the Island...I like it that much there...getting my wife to come to the beach when it is windy is mission impossible...at least right now Wink

Mid April I should have taken my last ever PhD exam..then only friggin' dissertation work left Smile but it calls for a 6 months celebration for sure Smile Let's meet then.

Spike; I have plenty friends that kite..but I think they might be sick of listening to me Smile Too much talking..I am like that when I am stoked..and after staying in bed for a week with a cold...without a voice... Smile

Kataku: Yesterday was on the south east, in Kailua...but it is really hard to get good shots from shore...expecially when the waves are 1 mile + out there....actually looking at how they broke I thing it will be hard to get pics from them without mounting a camera...hmmm.....

It is a little cold now, but so so so nice. I should really stay at work today, but it just will not do...gotta get out again. It's blowing 20 mph right now 18 - 23 mph steady NE winds....

Lol, you will not believe how many guys that talk like in that manner on this Island....I think it might be the warm weather...that said I can to some extent understand where he is coming from..sometimes it is too overwhelming for words.

The beach lingo is spoken to different degrees here. Some of the guys is just impossible to understand (maybe if I smoked crack). It is kind of funny to hear, and having lived in Amsterdam for 2 years I sort of know where it comes from...but it really became obvious when one of the guys just got caught with a valley full of plants..I think about 6000 plants...his pic in the news paper, with a shovel, a fat joint and smiling at the camera. He just looked so happy. Smile

Dano: my PhD is in communication and Information science..or it will be whenever I can get my direction back on track. It is an interdisiplinary program. Pretty nice actually. Hopefully I will grow up to be something one day Wink

How are the season goin at you guys end? I see the snow images, and I have seen some img kiting with ice....but the normal season goes from when to when?

Right now I just want to leave work again. It's a hard life.

For WEST wind in the Gorge (with decent to warm water temps), I'd say from May to August. September through now has its good strong east days now and then. Just have to deal with COLD water.

so I got a wet suit last year when I first started planning a visit...now a friend is getting married in September so I will be over for sure...do you think a 5 and 3 mm wet suit will do?

I wanted to try it in Norway this summer too, but my courage left me when I felt the cold....

will be sufficient for winter if you add booties and a hood, will be fine for spring, but need something less than that for summer (3mm shortie) so for September all you need is a shortie
