Has anyone given thought to a kiteboard that can be spit into two for travel? I know Bali boards makes one. Anyone use one?
I think either splitting it in the middle or maybe either side of your foot pads would be cool.
Hein?????
Sure would make travel easier.... Seems like a good market niche. _________________ Cleverly disguised as an adult...

the boards these days are so light and fairly small, i personally wouldnt be interested.....for things like the strength needed for hard landings.
I can fit a 134cm board in the trunk of my toyota MR2, along with three kites, wetsuit, bars, harness, and all the other kite related things i could possibly muster. The front trunk carry's all the camping gear for long trips, and the rations fit nicely behind the seats. All you really need is a small car with great gas milage

I was thinking about Airline travel. Would be sweet to fit into a regulation carry on bag, or at least NOT an oversize cheater bag. With the airlines clamping down. Its harder to avoid the $95 fee. _________________ Cleverly disguised as an adult...

people are really having trouble with the cheater?
i used one last april, no worries. looks just like the other golf bags. i thought the airline industry was committed to free travel for golfers.
i've heard of people getting hosed with the weight limit, but that's a different issue. _________________ If you feel sleepy you need to be driving faster. |

| Actually we have the NSI golf bag but didnt even use it on this last trip. I wanted to take the glide, so I just brought one of the rectangular DAKINE board bags that essentially has the dimensions of the glide. I was able to fit 3 boards in there with some extra stuff and the airline didn't have any issues. I just say they are skim boards and no one charged us. The bag is small enough that it isn't very oversized and it comes in at like 40 lbs max so no weight issues. |

I'm with Jim.
We used the huge DaKine bag on our last trip to SPI, and I think our limit was 50lbs...
As long as no-one mentions the term "board" I think you are ok....especially "surf"-board. Jackie said "surf-stuff" and the guy was like..." A surf-board?" Then, I said, "No, just beach gear, you know, beach balls, towels, umbrella, etc.." _________________ Shallow Dive Design, 2nd Wind Sports, Airush, Trident Sports |

Pretty cool boards... I wonder how flex/strength is affected. Obviously not good for that, but is the degradation acceptable?
BTW, The Glide does fit in the NSI golf bag, barely. On our trip to Saipan, I had a Glide, another board, 1 kite and the rest of my gear in it. I removed all hardware from the Glide, and the fins from the second board. The Glide has to go in first by the way... |
