Pepi... you had to go and say that huh?! I was ready to stop listening this morning and try and ride with the boot on.. but having seen your post fist thing this am, I thought it was a sign...

Hard to watch everyone else day after day get it so good. Even harder than missing out and watching this summer.... as it is warm, waves and windy!! Should have towed the boat down, as I would have at least been able to chase people with a lens...

Did a couple mile body drag in the ocean the other day... but it just doesn't compare... I can't even drive the downwinder shuttle anymore because I have to stay away and not even see it in order to deal with the reality of not being able to go!

At least it is warm sunny and enjoyable...

Haven't heard about anyone from NW getting hurt.. but maybe someone knows... very slick mud in places at the flats.. veyr easy to go sliding out of control when launching.. like being on an oil slick... Have seen some kooky ass shit though... seems like a lot of people, from places with no wind, love to come down and teach themselves with their big kites...

A guy named Tom was hurt on the big north wind day (7m-9m).
He was knocked out and bleeding from the nose.
He ended up with a swollen lip and banged up wrist.
Rumor has that it was his first land launch - not the right day for it.

Jake. Take what the locals say with a grain of salt and remember where we're from...

Last week I was surfing in trunks with no shirt.. comfortable.. but the locals were in full suits..

I think it is going to cool down a bit.. that everyone agrees on.. but I doubt the NW'ers will be putting on hoods to surf- as it suggests people will be doing this weekend on the local surf report-
http://www.spadre.com/surfcam.htm

I think you'll probably be safe with your 3/2...

I heard that someone from the Gorge got banged up on launch a few days ago...went to the hospital. It happened on the North Flats on SPI.

Anyone have the details?

Tom was released from the hospital at 8 PM that evening and visited the Flats the following day. Thank goodness he is doing ok.
We had a little chat with him and yes he had 4 lessons in Hood River and this was his first Land Launch.

WEll, we kinda had it all in SPI this time.

-nukey wind, super steady warm wind, cold wind, brown wind.
-warm water, flat water, cold water, small swell, huge turkey day swell.
-sunny skies, brown skies, coooold skies
-karaoke, whiskey-karaoke, tequila, mexico.
-oh, and Gene and I had a slider/kicker session too.

So, all in all, a killer time....and lots of fun..

Next time we will get the warm goods, ........ although, I didn't mind the huge swell the Northerly brought.

THese are the pics from Sunday before we left...would have more but we were busy riding and drinking.. Razz Twisted Evil We even got to ride with some dolphins on the last downwinder. Razz Drunk

Ask Carl and Tekko for more.

JAckie on the lens for these.....sorry carl and Gene, but she likes me more than you. Wink

THanks for the photo Tekko..and those HAVOC's, man those kites are soo nice..wish I had a surf day with one..
that kicker was cool too, virgin kicker session.

Yeah, I was amazed....that day the water was like a hot tub....then, two days later...it was like OR temps...bootie galore.

Can't wait to go back....might need to arrange another trip this Spring after surgery. Very Happy Crying or Very sad Twisted Evil

40 DEGREES IS 40 DEGREES BOYZZZZZZZZEEE.

The day after Thankgiving was has cold as anything I've hit in the SF Bay. We also hit 300 miles of snow on the way home. No plows and there were 20+ cars and trucks that slid off the road. I thought Texas was in the south??

It was back to warm water and 80 degree temps yesterday. Wind was pretty punchy though - 18 to 32 a few times! Needless to say we were pretty lit when the gusts came through. Looks good again today. So far December is off to a great start!
