Ever been out riding in powered up conditions and have a rear line/outside line break, snap or come loose? If so, what happened? Did the kite immediately go into a powered up death spiral? If so, how did you get out of it?

I had that happen on Tucker's REV a few weeks back at Rooster. Out of control 9m, right rear knot slipped (apparently I didn't get it on all the way), and the kite starting looping left. Luckily I was close to shore and able to hit the center line safety. Just had to deal with untangling lines, but otherwise, it wasn't too bad.

maybe i was lucky?

when that happend to me i just rode down wind as the kite did a big loop and hit the water, self rescue....
another time the kite just collapsed and fell outta the sky.

note:pre-flight check for knots more often

I broke the outside line on my CB last year at rooster. Although I am not sure if the line broke or it ripped the corner off of my kite. I just launched a jump and the outside line gave out, the kite started to death spiral and then all of a sudden, it was blowing down the beach without me.

broken outside line and tore the other side outside line off.

no biggie, just ended the day for me.

Frontline bridle broke on Waroo 9m today, kite went into spirals immediately. Hit the eject button on surefire bar and kite flagged straight out and dropped to water - drama over. Was glad i was leashed to back line.

Thanks all! Hey pauls, 9m Waroo? Which year bar do you have? From all I have heard, surprised you ride with your leash on your OSH, despite the fact that it did save your ass this time. Curious.
