(maybe better keep an eye on this one phil. . .)
just signed off the "other" forum after trying for an hour to get some feedback on my next big-kite purchase. she-it that place is frustrating. if i just read kiteforum, and never kited, i'd think y'al (we'all) were a bunch of constipated, repressed in-patients.
after missing my chance to demo the rev last summer, what i need to know is how the 14m performs. i am not interested in what kite is better, but only if anyone has had it out in lighter winds. i am going to be fllying the trades this winter. i need something for those 12-13kt days.
my indictment regarding larger kites is they just kinda lunk along.
175#, 125 youngblood, 132 ss doyle, old school but never old, finally learning a few tricks. currently flying sonic 11m and 8m's.
thanks ahead,
jimmi |

Well there is no 14m, so you'll probably want to go 13m or 15m. If you already have an 11m I'd go for the 15m. Its not super fun like the 13m or 11m, but its probably more what you need. 13m would probably be too close to what you got now.
Overall the REVs turn real fast, are a very light build, and relaunch in barely any wind, so they make good lightwind kites. I rode a prototype 17m in very little wind and it felt great. The only thing about the 15m that would probably suck is if the wind came up much you would want to be on a smaller kite quicker than if you were on the 13m.
Of course I am also one of those small kite snob guys who thinks you shouldn't go bigger than 13m and just get a bigger board for the light days.
Been pretty happy using an 11m SLE as my big kite the last two years. Though I have been known to borrow bigger kites from people on the uber light days. |

| I have the 13m butit hasn't been out of the bag yet. If I get it out this weekend I will let you know. The 11m is a great kite though and does relaunch super well in light wind. I got the 13m so if its light enough that Janet is on the 11m then I will ride the 13. |

I rode the 15m during a demo day and it does fly in very lttle wind. cool thing I liked about it for a big kite, is it still rotates on axis really well, slow but I could still throw a backroll kite loop with it..It just never makes it fully round by the time you land but gave enough low end power to do the trick. Most large kites I have been on just have enough power to mow the lawn.
Personally I would say 13/glide combo would be the largest I would want.
