| Anyone going to Fort Stevens/sunset today? I hope to be out there around lunchtime. Do you need a 4wd to drive on the beach? Never sailed or kited north of Manzanita before. I'd like to try a downwinder if conditions are right and anyone else out. I'll be in a gold Corolla wagon. |

I recommend something w/ 4wd...last time I was there, we had to help some old guy - his little hippie van was stuck in the sand...He got stuck when the tide was coming up....  Good thing I carry a rope in my truck...Even though it might not happen, you might get stuck out there in the sand...  |

You'll be fine on the Northern Strip. Access points are the only concern at times, and that is still rare, except of course the access point onto the beach at the shipwreck--that one is a bitch. Let's just say you need some "clearance Clairance" (What movie? Anyone) Just stay on the hard sand and if you have to go into the softer stuff, keep your speed.
