So after checking out a spot directly across from the Airport beach (forgot what it's called), Camas, and Washougal, we finally got a little riding in. Seriously the scariest wind we've ever been in, but it never rained! Cool

Water's for sure getting colder. I'm kinda retarded so I can handle my 4.3 shorty, but in any full suit you should be good for a bit. I bet we're in the mid to high 50s now... Crying or Very sad

Nice pics! What time did you get on the water? What was the direction by the time you got out?

Yeah it was BLOWING yesterday. I don't know if this formula is general knowledge in the kiting community but the force the wind makes is equal to the square of its speed. So a 20mph wind has 4x the power of a 10mph wind for example.

In the paragliding community we usually figure that mechanical turbulence will extend ~10x the height of an obstacle in winds blowing 10-15mph. If the wind is blowing stronger, the range of turbulence extends significantly.

Since yesterday was about zilch for thermic activity, the gusting was mostly mechanical turbulence, probably from trees far enough away that you wouldn't normally consider them to be a problem. You can get both boosted and slammed pretty damn good in rotor. Rotor is *dangerous* shit, maybe not so much over water, but it sure makes you pucker when you are flying over land.

O yeah, and those pics are really nice!
