Anybody have any reviews, demo's that they would like to comment on how this kite performs. i am interested in all aspects but particularly how the kite flies while unhooked and what additional tweaking/triming needs to occur to fly it unhooked.

any feedback would be appreciated.

Does anybody know who does demo's for North in the gorge?

thanks,

Ryan

I have been riding Rebels for over a year and find them the most user friendly and rangy kite I have ever flown. I have tried the new 08's as well and they are even better. It is a perfect do everything kite. The best thing though, is the ability to get by with 2 sizes and not lose any range or performance. Just try it once and I am sure you will agree. I believe Big Winds is the dealer for the Gorge and probably has demos. Otherwise, today at the sandbar you can demo them at the strapless collective.

I have tried the Rebel and Rhino. I normally ride Waroos.

I like the North kites overall, but the one thing I hate is that they have a lot of bar pressure. They have an extra little clip that helps you hold the bar in but that seems annoying and unsafe to me. Especially when many other bow/hybrid kites exist without any bar pressure. Maybe this is because the North kites eliminate bridals (which is cool).

So arms definitely get more tired on a Rebel/Rhino. Also, it seemed like the Rebel/Rhino turned slower than a Waroo. But that might be me imagining it because the increased bar pressure makes it feel like you have to pull harder to get the same turning rate.

The 5th line I hear is incredibly handy for self landing or just when winds come up to 50+ mph.

Rhino feels better than a Rebel to me (faster turning, better hangtime), but it's a lot more expensive.

The '08 Rebels have much less bar pressure than the '07's. Also, the micro loop can be removed if you don't like it. The new moveable stopper and bar/lines are very nice. I personally didn't like the '07 Rebels but I love the '08 Rebels.

The 08 Rebels are really nice. They have great range and are just plan fun to fly. I love that it is a bridless kite that consistantly does the pull one rear line relaunch like many bridled kites.

About bar pressure. It really is all relative to what you are use to. I personally am very use to a North like bar pressure. When I ride a kite with very low bar pressure I don't like it much and it takes me a while to get use to. Just like if you ride a low bar pressure kite and ride a North kite. One or the other is not bad or wrong. Just different.
