| Has anyone ridden here? I have a lot of layovers in Bangkok, and Pattaya is not that far away... Just wondering if it's worth dragging my gear along for a day trip? |

| if you got layovers in bangkok it's better to go out and get hangovers. the kiting there sooks and isn't really all that worth it. exploring a floating market or the club scene of bangkok would be worth more of your time. |

Done the floating markets, the Palace, etc. (The club scene is off limits solo! Joanne wouldn't be happy...)
So, is the wind just too light? If there is wind, are the conditions good?
Thanks! |

its tropical life so if there is wind it would be good. but that's just it...the wind is usually pretty light and not very reliable. supposedly it can be good, i've just gotten skunked and have a buddy who lives there who complains about it. look into hua hin as that is supposed to have better conditions. i know there is a school and/or shop down around pattaya as well.
be careful of the banana hammock slinging euro's with trophy wives/dates...they get especially rowdy during rugby season and late in the afternoon.
good luck! report back... |

I used to attend a windsurfing contest in Pattaya every year in December. We always got good wind, not real reliable, but if you drive a bit you can always get it.
When I asked my friend Bamrung, a Thai windsurfing champion about sailing in Thailand, he told me the secret was "loof laks". For you farangs that translates to "roof racks'. And don't miss the Christmas party at the Tahitian Queen. They fill the bar three feet deep with styrofoam beads(don't pass out!) |

| I was in Thailand for the month of December last winter, had my kite gear with me and never used it - there was never enough wind. I did however ride my kiteboard at a very cool Cable park in Jomtien, close to Pattaya. Definitely worth a visit. It takes a little practice to make the corners at the cable park, but once you get it dialed, its a blast! |

Thanks for the info everybody! December doesn't sound so good... I'll post if I find any wind. I'm in Bangkok for 32 hours at a shot, so my only option is Pattaya/Jomtien.
I'll check out the Links to the Thai sites!
Thanks again,
