It was very polite of the wind and snow gods to make their appearance on my surgery day to remind me of what I will be missing for the next 6 weeks.
Just had the medial meniscus in my knee worked on via arthroscopic surgery and will likely miss the Fall season, but hopefully ready for snow and then later winter kiting.
Nothing like coming home to sun and wind outside and snow on the newschannel

I get mine cleaned up on the 25th.
How much did they remove? |

No too much, mostly grinding and smoothing the meniscus and bone, and correcting some shortcomings that a local surgeon had left from my original surgery 3 years ago.
FYI - I've learned a valuable lesson about seeking referrals for doctors and surgeons. My first surgery had me on crutches for 2 weeks and suffering for almost 2 years of pain and swelling issues. So far from the surgery this morning, I am not really in need of any real pain medication and am able to actually put weight on the leg if necessary.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a safe and healthy recovery on this one.
I have new kites in the van, new skis arriving at the shop, and a very anxious daughter who is ready to hit the halfpipe and tabletops with me at Meadows.
Thanks for the notes guys.

Glad to hear Dr G was able to hook you up Pepi! I had a similar good experience, hobbling around hours after surgery, and was kiting 6 weeks later--still don't let the weight-bearing ability fool you, keep it elevated and iced, especially the 1st week. I was bad about that and it added at least a week to my recovery time. Fall season ain't all that --I had mine June 29th, watching the people gettin the goods day after day was torture!
But being all recovered for Baja in 2 weeks should make up for it! |
