Tue Oct 11, 05 5:09 pm Left work and went to the Bar. |

I was sitting at my desk pushing papers around when I had a thought. Why do this when I can go to the bar!. So I rounded up my stuff and took off to the bar.
Awesome way to say goodbye to the westerlys. Only a handful of people out. Did see two Rapture kites with a photographer snapping away.
I headed up river to the Hatch and found the Rapture guys and the Photographer on the shore.
Seemed to be about a 20mph day although there were several times I was very lit up. Would be interesting if someone has a Iwindsurf reading they could post to see what the wind was.
Anyway anyday at the Bar beats driving my desk! |

Cheers to that! Did a similar trip to Stevenson... it died around 5:30 though so only got an hour or so in. Looks like the bar went a bit later. |

Tough dogs go for it all year(except when on trips). Go to the steadiest spot between Roosevelt and Stevenson any time of year, there are at least a few kiters(or me). I was everywhere this winter(Jan 21st-present) and only scored it alone only 2 times in the Gorge. |

This is the time that local kiters should score the Hatch
Quickest and easiest launch in the Gorge
Steepest swell in the corridor

P.S.
When the wind lulled around 2:30 I ended up
a bit downwind so I down-winded it to the sb.
Thought I saw a blue kite in the trees at the
west end of Wells. Anyone lose a kite? Last edited by Hein on Wed Oct 12, 05 11:08 am; edited 1 time in total |

Not sure what the blue thing is on the tip of Wells Island. I saw it there on Sunday afternoon as well. Travis would likely say it was garbage deposited by Big Winds.
As for yesterday at the sandbar, I bailed work a little early myself and enjoyed the results. |

I too saw the blue beast on Wells island. At first I thought it was a kiter taking a rest in the trees.
I wonder now if it was a indian blue tarp that they wrap around there fishing piers/homes. |
