| can you run a 07 slingshot bar (5 line) on a north rebel (2007)? Is there much difference between C kite bars and bow bars that are both 5 line?

| I can tell you that the North bar is the same for the Vegas and the Rebel and I sometimes use a Slingshot bar with my Vegas so I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.

I have a rebel and use the 5th element exclusively with it. I would think you need to use the Y bridle style bar to help the kite maintain it's shape. I am sure it will fly with a regular five line system, however it will not be an efficient way to go. The 07 5th element bar is slightly different where there is a stopper at the Y bridle junction that continually pulls the fifth line tight so whether you sheet the sheeter all the way in or have it all the way out, it still maintains the fifth tight from the Y bridle up to the leading edge. The fifth line is loose below the Y bridle point. The Slingshot bar will be able to attach to the leading edge adequately, but it doesn't allow the Rebel to maintain it's shape as effectively.
When it comes to the new North designs, I really think they need to be paired up with the bar to be efficient.
I have a 06 SS oneline bar that I use on my fuel as well as my rhino 5, but that kite is a true C where as the Rebel is a hybrid style kite.

I think you will really want the "Y" system on the North bar to really take advantage of the Rebel. The Y basically acts as a bridle, and the kite has been designed around that Y. I am sure you could buy the North "bar guts" and put them on a SS bar, but by the time you do that it may be cheaper to just pick up an 07, or 08 5th Element bar.

| Doesn't the "Y" you guys are talking about stay attached to the kite? The center line on the SS bar would attach to it the same way the North bar does?

| No, the Y is part of the 5th line set, and in fact it's more of a V with a 5th line running up the center of the V to form a bridle. The kite itself has 5 pigtails to attach to, similar to a 5-line C.

The "Y" you could be referring to could be the mini "Y" that connects the fifth line to the leading edge at two sperate points rather than one point. Most five line kites have a fifth line coming from the center point of the kite such as the pump leash area.
The Rebel has a two connection point at the leading edge which probably acts as another mini bridle.
