fun, but if you haven't ridden a skim before you will be wasting some very very good conditions.

I'll be in Newport until Monday around lunch. Will rent a shortboard or longboard for the main kiting. I'll save the skim for an early or late goof-off sesh.

You will be fine on your skim.....still basic board skills...you just might not last too long....

It's fun at the coast, so shallow you can just get up and do it again when you loose your board.. Very Happy and those micro-waves on the way inside are sweet on the skim..

Yeah...it is interesting....I have a LF board that doesn't get much use, but its cool to screw around on...

The new-er ones (2005-current) are better, sharper rails and narrower tip and tail...the one I have is fat and round....lots of drag so not really a lightwind board....But, I used a Hyperlite 4'5" and it was really nice..just kinda heavy. Very Happy

Is your skim foam core or wood core? Wood core is gonna suck to try to find if you come off the board. They don't float well at all and are going to be easy to lose in the water.

My bud John Gilman has pulled it off on a foam core. If I find his handle I'll forward this on.
