We aren't big fans of the "this kite or that kite" threads... but I'd say sticking with the same type of kite across your quiver is a good idea.

For a Bantam weight you should be able sail a 5m in 25 to 35+

as a mighty welterweight I need 25+ and a surfboard as a low end for the 5m.

Do you sail in this sweet spot near Atlantis?

ABSOLUTELY - Onad and I were there a couple of years ago for diving and wish we had our kite gear. It's very crowded on Paradise Island, but there are lots of boats willing to take you out to more remote and kiteable spots. FUN FUN FUN - Definitely book with Stuart Cove's for diving - their shark trips sell out months in advance and they are awesome! Very Happy

Now that I have pirated this thread.....

What kind of wind should I expect? IE what kites to bring?

expect anything - can get a norther come through and blow 30+ - also can be calm - but January you pretty much gonna have good 9m wind -unless you gorged over thanksgiving and are approaching Super Heavyweight - then pack the 19m Laughing

hey mark
you should contact the local school. cross-shore.com. AJ watson will help you out and will tell you wat size kite to bring. there are usually 4 days out of 7 that we will have wind in january. you should check out the kite caddy. 100 dollers and cros-shore will pick you up from your hotel drive you to the best spot where the wind is blowing, pump up your kite, luanch you, give you drinks and snacks then deflate and pack you kite away
