Thu Aug 02, 07 3:44 pm Will Hood River be rockin' tomorrow? |
|
|
For all you knowledgeable peeps out here, what is the best way to tell if HR will be blowing a couple days out? I have tried looking through the Forecast page, SailFlow (which is usually wrong anyway), and the local news weather reports but am not sure if I should take some PTO and make it an extra long weekend in the Gorge! If it’s going to be anything like the past few weeks, my guess is that it will be awesome!
I guess anything’s better than working though!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

Most likely a windless weekend. You should stay home and get that yard work done.

It's a forecast done by red-beard mark every morning (from what I remember him telling me) for hood river. Seems to be pretty good. especially the 10 mph gust range as only hood river can deliver.
(I keep telling myself I wont make another post for at least a few days but here's another one again, damn... I fought the urge successfully on another thread earlier today though) |

Thanks, guys! Those sites are awesome!
boredbrain, what things should I be looking at as far as the wind gradient goes? ...high pressure, movement, etc.
Thanks again! |

JB, what you want to look for is big differences in pressure. In isobar maps, look for lines close together- that means higher winds.
Its kind of like a topo map where closer lines indicates steep slopes. |

channel 8 is predicting 35 mph winds in hr and east tomorrow... that's a little more than ikite is predicting....
• The strongest Gorge wind should be in the afternoon from Swell to Doug's in the 18-22 range.
i tend to trust georgie a little more... but 35 would be pretty sweet. |
