PostWed Jul 18, 07 5:14 pm    matching a bar with kite ?? Reply with quote

Hey Guys,

What are the issues with mixing up brands of bars and kites?

Specifically, is it "OK" or just as good to run a Slingshot bar on a Waroo?

And for the smaller kites: 5m, 7m, 9m, it is recommended to run a 45cm bar. Is there major problem with using a 55cm bar?

Thanks!!

perfect.

ss bars are very good for hooked in riding, but the stopper is no longer state of the art.

The only bars you really can't mix and match are the pulley style bow kite bars (with pulleys on each side of the bar.)

The rest you can mix and match fine but it might take a couple of seshs to dial in the line lengths (play with different pigtail settings.)

If you used a T2 bar it'd probably be fine, you need the pulleys though. I think Henry ran a Slingy Turbo bar on his CB for awhile.

So no real trade offs using the longer bar for the smaller kites?

nope. It would be way worse the other way around. Hold the bar closer to the center if your finding the kite extra squirely.

I meant a NON pulley bar on a CB. It would have less depower, but would the bar pressure decrease some?

i run a big bar on those exact sizes and really like it. it makes the kite turn very fast and reactive. maybe a bit easier to screw up, but faster to correct also. yes there are tradeoffs--stability. everything is a tradeoff.

can someone please kill monkey's avatar????

Yeah, it should have half the bar pressure on a 1:1 setup (reverse block and tackle). Tucker's ridden the T2s with a standard bar and said the kite response was slower, but wasn't horrible. Definately won't be able to completely shut the kite off though (so long as there's a ball above the stopper on the depower side).

All Slingshot TD2's are set up for 51cm of throw!

06's are all different...

Check the throw distance.

The length of the bar really won't matter on the smaller kites, but if you run a small bar on a big kite it will respond slower for sure.

Very Happy Ask Shy at Slingshot

I rode Tucker's setup when he had it like that and it was really hard to turn the kite in 1:1.
