Been to the coast @ Manzanita and Seaside B4 to score some epic sessions but only on NW winds so far.

Here's a question for those who have kited out there under S or SW winds.

How well does S or SW wind work on the coast? ( but only interested in Manzo or Seaside since it's too far a haul further south )

I would imagine seaside is wind shadowed, does manzo work as good as NW?

Lets hope for a good forecast this week

Gene, Man and I have kited the little river mouth that comes out just north of Haystack Rock at Cannon beach. You have to find parking and hike to it, but it worked out pretty well. SW winds have chance of dying, so don't kiter further than you're willing to swim with the fishes!

yep, forrest's got it.

Tolovana. The beach the furthest south in Cannon BEach has some good South wind.... Very Happy

And, I'm pretty sure if you start far enough N past Seaside and sunset, you can downwind up to Shipwreck with some good wind Very Happy

Or you can ride in the flats in the bays, and river up by Astoria.
I have kited SW winds in the ponds many times.

There are some spots on (and just up) the river from Astoria. It's waist deep for 200 yards out, you can trunk it all summer and fall, and SW winds make for perfect butter flat fields of warm water. Tidal flats that look like quicksand....but it is just 1 inch mud.

Just stay away from the airport entirely.

There is also rice island (giant sand island right off of Astoria in the river) if you have a waverunner or boat to get there. SW winds are sideshore and you can do mini downwinders. Pretty fun for a family adventure.

But yes, SW winds can be up and down. No big deal, just wait it out.

Not gonna give you all the google earth coordinates and make crowds in our secret ponds....but if you seek you shall find.

Thats all right, I'm mainly interested in wave spots than ponds or flat water

Souths are super fun for waves if the wind is steady.
But yeah they tend to be up and down....just rig huge.

Rig big and run ----downwind with the blasts.
